Chapter 46
The restaurant Rebecca took him to hadn’t just been nice—it had been downright fancy—and expensive.
She hadn’t been lying when she said she was practically rich now that she no longer had to save every bit of money to perfect her foundation. Even after transferring the fifteen million energy to his parents’ account at the bank, she still had plenty saved up, and she wasn’t afraid to spend it.
And if she wanted to splurge a little on a commemorative lunch, who was he to say anything? It was her money, after all.
Elias sipped his drink and smacked his lips in satisfaction.
“To adventuring—and being rich!” Rebecca exclaimed loudly, raising her glass.
“And being rich!” Elias echoed, clinking his cup against hers before taking another sip.
“To friendships and good company—and being rich!” she cried again.
“And being rich!” Elias echoed once more.
Their celebration had already dragged on for quite a while. It was late afternoon, and this was his and Rebecca’s seventh drink. Needless to say, there was no way he was going anywhere near the dungeon today.
Not that it mattered much. He had leveled his attributes three times yesterday, putting him ahead of schedule on his mother’s deadline to reach level ten. Starting tomorrow, he would have twelve days to level his attributes eleven more times. He could afford to take today off.
He still had more than enough time.
The next day, Elias woke up with a horrible hangover. Still, he dragged himself out of bed, got dressed, and made his way toward the dungeon—though not before stopping by an apothecary to buy a Common-rank hangover cure. Then, thinking better of it, he spent a little more on an Uncommon one instead.
His head was throbbing, and he had a long day ahead of him.
Surprisingly, he found Rebecca waiting in the clearing when he arrived, looking just about dead on her feet. They had gone toe-to-toe, drink for drink, yesterday, but it seemed he was a little more resistant. Even the hangover cure did nothing to ease their exhaustion.
The look on her face when he suggested they skip training could have moved even a heart made of stone. She nearly wept with relief, and before he had even set foot in the jungle, she was already on her way home to sleep it off.
Elias had managed to get a good night’s sleep despite the state he’d been in when he stumbled home the day before, but he was still tired. Even so, he powered through for a few hours until he earned enough exp to raise his last attribute to level eight. This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. Congratulations! Your intelligence is now level 8.
The following days passed much the same, except that Rebecca was decidedly different during training. While she had occasionally questioned his guidance before, now she listened more easily. More than that, she seemed to have taken to training with a vengeance, redoubling her efforts.
It was as if she were trying to prove a point—though what that point was, Elias had no idea.
Whatever the reason, the results were undeniable. She had already been progressing quickly under his tutelage thanks to her natural talent and previous combat experience, but now… now her skills were improving at a truly prodigious rate.
If he hadn’t been growing stronger as well, it might have been enough for her to land a blow on him during their sparring matches—if she got lucky—but he was growing stronger.
He wasn’t sure if it was a lingering effect of the foundation training he’d done before, or a marginal benefit from leveling his physical attributes over the past few days, but his body continued to fill out. It wasn’t as pronounced as it had been during his foundation training, but it was noticeable.
More importantly, it wouldn’t stop. His body would continue to fill out once he resumed training his foundation. And this was only a taste of what awaited him once he finally perfected it.
After training, Rebecca continued to unerringly buy him lunch, showing no signs of wanting to stop.
He was honestly flattered, but he was also starting to get a little embarrassed by the whole thing. He understood she was only trying to show her gratitude, but still… being pampered like this felt strange.
He even tried to decline her offer to pay on the third day, but she insisted. He relented, though only after she promised to stop after they came back from their trip.
At least she had only taken him somewhere nice that first day.
After lunch, Elias entered the dungeon and ground down monsters for exp until he earned enough to level an attribute once. By now, he was strong and experienced enough to handle the monsters at the core of the zone without much trouble, and he accomplished his goal easily.
He kept a steady pace during his delves, as he had learned to do, and wasn’t even really tired by the end of the day. He could easily keep this up for weeks on end—but he only needed ten days.
On the first and second days, he leveled his Agility to ten.
Congratulations! Your Agility is now level 9.
Congratulations! Your Agility is now level 10.
On the third and fourth days, his Strength followed suit, and with it, all of his physical attributes finally reached the level cap.
Congratulations! Your Strength is now level 9.
Congratulations! Your Strength is now level 10.
On the fifth and sixth days, it was Charisma’s turn for a boost.
Congratulations! Your Charisma is now level 9.
Congratulations! Your Charisma is now level 10.
That left only his mental attributes. On the seventh and eighth days, he leveled Intelligence.
Congratulations! Your Intelligence is now level 9.
Congratulations! Your Intelligence is now level 10.
Finally, on the ninth and tenth days, he brought Wisdom up to level 10 alongside the others.
Congratulations! Your Wisdom is now level 9.
Congratulations! Your Wisdom is now level 10.
